IgA antibodies are produced in the greatest quantity in a day. This is one of the most important antibodies as it is the bodies’ first line of defence against viruses and bacteria. Testing for IgA antibodies against specific foods may be raised when the lining of the intestinal tract or the mucous membrane become inflamed or damaged. Elevated IgA to specific foods can be a sign of damage to the mucous membranes in the gut. Individuals with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, or even those with suspected leaky gut may benefit from testing IgA food reactions. The IgA 96 antibody test can be ordered through a variety of consumed food panels such as the general western foods (Code 3197), vegetarian foods (Code 3200) and asian foods (Code 3198).
Common Conditions:

Test Method
This test is performed by ELISA. This profile is designed to assay specific IgG (subclasses 1, 2, 3, 4) and IgA (subclasses 1, 2) antibodies. The classification of 0 to IV denotes the level of IgG and/or IgA antibodies detected through spectrophotometric analysis. The antigens on the panel are subject to change without prior notice. Reference ranges are updated periodically.
